of your work. Circles & figure-eights…
they all do. Just a matter of time till this
buckin bronco's spirit will be broken.

Let's Have Lunch

Lets take a break. We'll run up and have some lunch. I'm having the halibut and shrimp basket, how about you? How does a burger and clam chowder sound?
We've been fishing in a twenty foot, aluminum, powerboat. Four comfortable seats and one "really comfortable" seat. Hell, if you had mine, I'd never get you out of the boat. These are "state of the art" boats for our in-river fishery. Yes, you can all gawk over the port side and take pictures… we won't tip over.
How Bout The Other "Port Side" ?

You can eat in Topeka.
Lets get back out there amongst "em" and do some fishing.
We'll make a few passes right here through "the aquarium".
We'll run some plugs, quickfish, or magnum wiggle-warts, and spin n glows. Everyone has an equal chance of getting bit. EVERYONE! 
Get ready… where the current picks up in the tailout has been the hotspot.
WHAM… drag screamin', line takin', hook settin',
a big boil & silvery flash, a white water eruption ~ sixty feet
behind the boat… then nothing.
They don't all get hooked.

King Salmon  ~  Growth  "After Death"

Lets re-group and do it till we get it right.
Luck is with us today and we've boated four fish.
We released one ~ twenty-five pounds and one ~
forty pounds and we boxed one weighing
forty-three pounds and another "pituitary giant"
weighing sixty-seven pounds.
(He was only sixty-three pounds when I wrote this.
But that is the nature of king salmon.
They are the only species that continues growth after death!
And…a few biters didn't get hooked.

You're  going  to  leave  here  a   smarter  person.
Alaskan anthropology to zoology- we'll talk about it all.
No politics  (maybe a little),  no religion  or  weather.
And… sometimes we break the rule on the latter.

your' at home "seafood buffet" is ready to travel.
It's been a great day and we know the ones that got away
were all over seventy pounds. Who loses a little one?
They'll be here tomorrow and so will we.
Now, it's "Miller Time"!
Lets go have a Bud & a Coke.  A few stories,
some will be and some won't be fishy.  We'll recall the moose
that swam across the river,  the arctic terns fishing ,
and the ever-present eagles.   And,   you know
what really feels good right now?
A little nap before dinner is truly a "fisherman's delight"!
Get  a  good  nights  sleep  ??
We'll see you bright & early tomorrow morning and do this again.
